Test results of NovaStor DataCenter performance in a live client environment

NovaStor DataCenter achieved excellent data throughput in the test, backing up over 6.5 TB/h. Global service provider Tieto protects one of the single largest volumes of business data around the globe using NovaStor’s enterprise solution – NovaStor DataCenter.

Client name: Tieto – IT Services, R&D and consulting

Test Scenario

Tieto used for the tests actual network clients, and a server configured with 2×10 GB/s network interfaces to conduct this test, utilizing multiple tape drives and multiplexer for maximum flow of data.

Test result: Optimum value for data throughput and hardware utilization

NovaStor DataCenter prevails in the test scenario with optimal hardware utilization. In the first 280 seconds after starting the test, data throughput increased steadily. This increase was due to the successively connecting clients, the loading of the tapes and the allocation of memory through the multiplexer. After this initial phase, the backup server maintained a constant flow of 1800 MB/sec = 6,5 TB/h.

1800 MB/sec = 6,5 TB/h. This number represents the throughput of the backup server itself, where as the gross data throughput using client software compression can be significantly higher. This figure clearly represents a near-optimal utilization of the hardware infrastructure.
